Wells Fargo has donated $1,000 to Whiteaker Middle School to build a collection of Social Studies non-fiction literature for dissadvantaged students. The impact of this program is both immediate and long term in endurance. In class students will get focused, quiet opportunities to read and research historical topics, then carry out projects and assignments that are interesting and engaging. Students learn to chart their course through how a book is organized, use its index, find resources and utilize those skills to expand their capacity to learn. Students will learn to read more deeply on subjects in history instead of skipping through names and dates as history has traditionally been taught. This program will help add integrity to a child's learning and provide more structure to their thinking. Thank you Wells Fargo for supporting Whiteaker Middle School! |
